Teacher union officials who never set foot in a classroom

Harry Phibbs, on the ConservativeHome website, writes about Michael Gove’s consultation on restricting the amount of time teachers spend working as trade union officials while their salaries are still being met by the taxpayer.   Often union officials will be employed full time at public expense yet never setting foot in a classroom.   He looks at the differences in amount of time taken off for trade union duties in local authorities of varying size.
